Iron Fabrication Services LLC. is a leading fabricator and supplier of all types of steel used in many major construction projects such as large scale commercial and residential buildings. It was founded by a group of professionals in the construction market. Our quality is visible throughout the Metropolitan area of Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland and can be seen on many current construction projects.
We offer a wide range of products including prefabricated stairs, rails, ladders, catwalks, grating structures. We are as well specialized in structural steel fabrication and erection including columns, beams, deck and steel joists.

Iron Fabrication Services (IFS) is fast growing company and therefore we are always looking for Project Manager with steel experience, Ironworker journeyman, AWS certified welders and fabricators.

Current Open Positions

Project Manager & Metals Detailer Structural & Misc:

1. Experience on Commercial, residential and/or Industrial Projects.

2. Experience in materials purchasing and gathering product data for projects as required.

3. Knowledge in structural and miscellaneous metal design

4. Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and network storage file management.

5. Must be able to interpret Construction Documents, Arch. & Structural Drawings and Specs accurately.

6. Minor project managing may be required working with Project Managers, Shop Superintendent, Field Superintendent, Engineering Department and Customers.

7. Structural and Miscellaneous steel detailing and design using 2D/3D CAD

8. Prepare shop and erection drawings for fabrication and erection with accurate details and weld symbols*

9. Comply with AISC policies and procedures manuals

10. Prepare Advanced Bill of Materials for procurement

11. Document control including R.F.I. logs, Shop Drawings and Contracts

12. Project Management (material take-off for bidding purposes)

13. Revise shop drawings appropriately to reflect architect and engineer comments

14. Provide as-built drawings for post project close out activities

Journey man (Iron worker) Job duties:

1. Build and install iron or steel girders, columns, and other construction materials from blueprints

2. Ability to perform layout and set elevations from blueprints

3. Cut, position, and bolt down steel bars to reinforce concrete.

4. Repair older infrastructure.

5. Make, weld, and cut structural metal in fabricating shops.

6. Erect steel frames.

7. Direct operation of cranes to move structural steel, reinforcing bars, and other materials onto and around the construction site.

8. Connect steel columns, beams, and girders.

9. Drill holes into steel for bolts.

10. Number steel according to assembly instructions.

11. Unload and stack steel.

12. Attach cables to steel and then to the crane.

13. Hoist steel into place in the framework.

14. Position steel with connecting bars and spud wrenches.

15. Work with drift pins to align the holes in the steel with the framework holes.

16. Use plumb bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment.

17. Bolt or weld piece into place.

18. Place spacers under rebar to lift bars off deck.

19. Install stairs, handrails, or curtain walls.

20. Make sure all pieces are fitted properly and complete repairs as necessary

 

Willing to work 40 + hours

Metals Detailers Structural & Misc.

1. AutoCAD Software

2. SDS2-3-D not required but helpful

3. experience in structural steel, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals

4. must be able to read and interpret drawings

5. must be able to manually calculate mathematical conversions

6. must be punctual, able to meet deadlines, manage time, multi-task, stay organized and maintain focus in a busy office

7. Duties and Responsibilities:

8. interpret architectural and structural drawings

9. create preliminary and final shop drawings, fabrication drawings and erection drawings per plans,
elevations, sections and details that meet client project standards and specifications check drawings for accuracy

10. maintain a working knowledge of construction and fabrication means and methods, weld symbols etc.

11. maintain knowledge of AISC requirements

12. Maintain knowledge of current building codes and regulations

13. Maintain project files

14. Check other detailer/drafters drawings

This position could work into a management position for the right candidate. Responsibilities would
be all of the above plus could include but not limited to: Teams and project management, Take off
material lists to bid projects, work closely with customers, the office staff and the shop foreman.

AWS CERTIFIED WELDER :

1. Provide AWS welding certificate

2. Attend work on the schedule established by the employer and without excessive absenteeism.

3. Follow all safe work practices.

4. Obtain parts and materials.

5. Access area to be welded by climbing ladder if needed.

6. Use disc grinder to smooth out, weld, or grind parts prior to welding.

7. Operate manual and automated welding units and equipment by depositing

8. metal from electrode to work piece and joins edges of work piece.

9. Maintain length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead.

10. Weld in flat and vertical planes (all position welding).

11. Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.

12. Grind or clean weld joint of work piece.

13. Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes.

14. Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a jig fixture.

15. Tack assemblies together.

16. Fabricate new or replacement parts for dump trucks, trailers, and wheel wash unit.

17. Assemble component parts using hand and small power tools.

18. May change hoses, fittings, air valves, suspension parts, etc.

19. Clean up work area daily.

Skills: Understand and apply welding techniques; work quickly and skillfully with the hands; accept responsibility for the work performed; visualize what the finished product should look like; operate welding equipment with skill.

Experience: Steel/Aluminum experience needed

Wire-feed welding

Mechanical w/hydraulics

Wrenching experience

Fabrications with welding and layout

Willing to work 40 + hours
